SCHOOLS MOVE BACK ON THE AGENDA The Bishop's Stortford High School and the Herts and Essex High School have submitted revised plans for a super-school at Whittington Way. This is despite the fact that the schools withdrew their plans in December 2008 following overwhelming public opposition and EHDC's planning officers' recommendation that the plans be rejected.
New! The BSCF is distributing a leaflet outlining the arguments against the school plans: Our Green Belt under threat – Oppose the schools’ move.

CAUSEWAY REDEVELOPMENT - DOES THE TOWN WANT THIS? East Herts District Council (EHDC) drew up a design statement for the land at the Causeway site that was sold off cheaply to Henderson over a year ago. Shockingly, the BSCF and others had to resort to a Freedom Of Information Act request in order to obtain details of this statement. The proposed development is a large complex similar in scale to the controversial Jackson Square development. Does the town want this? EHDC needs to start listening to the town's residents.
See this story - Experts called in amid claims council sold off Stortford land on the cheap for information about how EHDC did a deal with the developer, Henderson, which ignored the best financial option. Once again, it took a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain details of the deal.
