Welcome

The Civic Federation exists both to represent our many members and to campaign for a better Bishop's Stortford: a market town that operates within its own limits to growth, with a thriving market, good schools within the town, employment and training opportunities and a place where we feel safe and can enjoy ourselves, whatever our age or ability.

We are NOT simply against development but FOR appropriate development that takes us towards our aims.

BSCF Comment on Silver Leys Inspector's Report New!

We are delighted that the Inspector recognised that good accessibilty is essential for a medical centre and, as we saw when we were present at his site visit, it took him a brisk 15-20 minute walk up hill from the town centre to get there. It was because of poor accessibility that he rejected the Silver Leys proposal as unsustainable. We hope that the South Street practice will now look at the alternatives with an open mind. There is already a suitable site with planning permission just to the south of the town centre. And once the outcome of our judicial review is decided, Charringtons House may well be available as a conversion opportunity.
