The Civic Federation exists both to represent our many members and to campaign for a better Bishop's Stortford: a market town that operates within its own limits to growth, with a thriving market, good schools in the town, employment and training opportunities and a place where we feel safe and can enjoy ourselves, whatever our age or ability.
We are NOT simply against development but FOR appropriate development that takes us towards our aims.

BISHOP'S STORTFORD NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN NEWSLETTER NO.14
Welcome to the fourteenth newsletter for the Bishop's Stortford Neighbourhood Plan for Silverleys and Meads Ward and the first for All Saints, Central, South and part of Thorley Parish.
We have now started work on our second Neighbourhood Plan for the remainder of town and part of Thorley Parish. This includes the area between Whittington Way and the A1184, the Goods Yard site in the town centre and Manor Links, all of which have been identified for future development in the East Herts Draft District Plan. We need your help in creating this second plan.
We need to get input from as many people in the town as we can on what you like about the town and where you would like to see improvements. Obviously, these need to be deliverable but your views and ideas are important to us.
Everyone who completes the questionnaire will be entered into a prize draw to win £100. The draw will take place after 15th December 2014 from all the entries received and the winner will be announced on our website.
Come and visit our Neighbourhood Plan stand in Jackson Square on Saturday 8th November. We are holding a consultation day in Jackson Square on Saturday 8th November from 9.30am to 5.00pm in the main mall. Members of the Neighbourhood Plan team of volunteers will be available to answer your questions on Neighbourhood Planning, what it means for the town and how we can help to make sure that development can benefit all members of the local community. We need your input to ensure that we agree on our vision and objectives and that any resulting policies help to achieve these objectives.
We are still looking for a few more volunteers to help us with proofreading, leafleting, graphic design, mapping etc. so if you can offer us any of your time, however little, please complete the application form to volunteer skills at http://www.stortfordplan.org. Please telephone 01279 715005 if you would like to discuss it further or if you have any questions.
